 SILK SCARVES

Because I love working with silk, I design and paint scarves to be sold during the winter holiday season, and limit their production for that time period. They are sold at various holiday shows and events, which will be posted on this website at the end of September.

Trips to Morocco and interest in Mendhi, which is the art of drawing designs with thin lines of henna paste on hands and feet, especially brides before their wedding ceremonies, influenced a scarf line called CELEBRATION. These silk  scarves are individually  hand painted, and richly decorated with sequin-like dots of gold, pearlescent and iridescent colors, or fine gold line designs.  When worn at celebrations - holidays, parties and special events - they are sure to attract attention, allowing the wearer to look and feel special, as a Moroccan bride might. The scarves shown here are some of the designs from our collection.

FESTIVAL

This design is done with dots of color within wavy or straight bands outlined in gold, with accents of gold dots and swirls, and finished with beaded ends in coordinating colors.

MENDHI

These patterns were done to look like Mendhi patterns, painted with  gold lines and accents of small colored or gold dots and swirls.

BUTTERFLY SCARVES

An extension of CELEBRATION scarves, the same use of pearlescent and iridescent colors, as well as thin gold line work,  are employed in a series of designs referred to as BUTTERFLY scarves. When draped over the shoulder, the iridescent butterflies and dragonflies appear to be in flight, as their wing colors closely resemble those seen in real butterfly wings.

ONE-OF-A-KIND

During the course of developing scarf designs for a collection of similar designs, I wind up with scarves that are not selected for duplication.  These go under the category, one-of-a-kind, and are either kept for reference or sold. The designs below are examples of scarves sampled for the CELEBRATION line.
